ALPS Residency Fees for 2006-2007
- A. $125 for a pre-program planning meeting between the teaching artist, participating teachers and administrators. Artist and school staff define goals for the residency, discuss curriculum integration, teaching methods and residency structure.
- B. $350 per teaching day. The artist should work with the same four classes (students and teachers) for a minimum of five days.
- C. Travel expenses to a maximum of $250 per five day residency. If an artist is beyond commuting distance and stays within the school community during the residency, the travel expense is a flat $175 per five day residency. If the artist commutes each day more than 25 miles (one way) to the residency site, the sponsor pays a mileage allowance of 50 cents per mile, to a maximum of $50 per day.
- D. Room and board. For artists who live too far from the residency
site to commute on a daily basis, the school sponsor must provide room and
board during the residency. We recommend that the sponsor find a host family
within the community to lodge the artist. Motel and meal expenses are ONLY
mandated if a host family cannot be found for the artist.
Summary:
Costs for a five day residency program (minimum residency length) are as follows: $125 for pre-program planning meeting between artist and school staff; $1500 (5 days @ $300 per day); plus mileage/travel and room and board (if applicable).
TOTAL COSTS PER FIVE DAY RESIDENCY: $1875 (plus mileage and room and board if applicable).
TOTAL COSTS PER TEN DAY RESIDENCY: $3625 (plus mileage and room and board if applicable).
Residency costs can be run through regional BOCES Arts in Education
programs as a shared service, resulting in a substantial saving to the
school sponsor.
